Skoltech is an international graduate research-focused university that was founded by the group of world-renowned scientists in 2011. Japan – A New Opportunity for Skoltech’s Academic Outreach

As the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) continues to expand the boundaries of its academic collaboration, Edward Crawley, Skoltech’s President, and Mikhail Myagkov, VP for Academic Outreach and International Relations visit leading Japanese universities.

On February 9 Prof. Crawley will visit the Osaka University and meet with its President Toshio Hirano and Executive Vice President Yasuyuki Okamura. On February 10 the Skoltech President will visit the Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech) and meet with President Mishima, to discuss student exchange programs, visit labs and deliver a seminar on ‘Building and Developing a University of the 21st Century’. On February 11 the Skoltech delegation is invited to the Institute of Fluid Science as well as the Advanced Institute for Materials Research of the Tohoku University and is slated to meet with the institutes’ directors – Mr. Shigeru Obayashi and Mr. Motoko Kotani. On the agenda: a discussion of opportunities for collaboration. A visit to the Hokkaido University is scheduled for February 12.

“We are proactively expanding our outreach in Japan, seeking to build long-term mutually beneficial partnerships with science and technology based universities”,  says Skoltech President Crawley. “We have much to learn from the highly advanced model of research and education in Japan. The interaction of universities is a central way to build bridges among Nations”.
