Entry requirements
Successful candidates must have a knowledge of Science, Mathematics, Physics, and Engineering as well as flexibility to work with teams or individually.Bachelor’s degree, or its equivalent in Physics, Technology, and Engineering.
English language requirements
If your education has not been conducted in the English language, you will be expected to demonstrate evidence of an adequate level of English proficiency.

Degree information

The Advanced Manufacturing and Materials program was developed with a focus on raising industrial productivity and manufacturing capability, developing a vibrant “Made in Russia” ecosystem.

The aim of the program is to train experts in advanced manufacturing and materials who can serve in a variety of national and international industries.

The comprehensive curriculum includes Product Development, Manufacturing Processes, Materials Selection for Design, Composite Materials, PLM and a Design and Manufacturing Sector course, which provides a combined technological and business perspective of the sector. Like all other Master programs at Skoltech, an Innovation Workshop and other courses in innovation such as Intellectual Property and Ideas to Impact complement the core content of the program.

Learning outcomes
A successful graduate of the program will know and have:

  • Major classes of materials, their basic physical and chemical properties and application
  • Modern technological methods and tools
  • Fundamentals of innovation and entrepreneurship and ability of interdisciplinary thinking
  • Vision for the creation of new technologies, design and development of sustainable systems, as well as production

Professional outcomes
A successful graduate of the program will be able to:

  • Apply knowledge of substance (material) properties research analysis, diagnostics and modeling, conduct comprehensive research, making use of standard and certification testing
  • Design new structures and materials with the ability to evaluate their performance and properties
  • Use modeling, streamlining, harmonization and certification techniques to assess and forecast material properties and technological efficiency
  • Apply modern concepts of micro- and nanostructure impact on material properties, their interaction with the environment, fields, energy particles and radiation
  • Research, analyze and generalize scientific information on the research subject, develop and use technical references for professional matters
