Mathematical Physics

Master of Science Program

Skoltech CAS

Contemporary mathematical physics is a melting pot where new methods and ideas beneficial for both areas are created. This program has no analogs abroad and can be compared only with the master’s program in Mathematical Physics at the Department of Mathematics of HSE. The latter is not a competitor but a partner. The advantage of the program at Skoltech is the unique position which can bring together students with excellent mathematical backgrounds from HSE, as well as students with physics backgrounds from schools such as the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.

Degree information

The Mathematical Physics program is a unique program aimed at training researchers in mathematics, including in-depth knowledge of modern mathematical physics as well as research with a detailed understanding of the fundamental models of modern theoretical physics and advanced mathematical training.

Aims and objectives
The program offers early student involvement in research projects under internationally recognized faculty members and distinguished visiting researches from abroad. This is achieved through Students research seminars and summer and winter schools.

The program’s focus is on fundamental models and concepts of theoretical physics, in which cutting-edge research develops in conjunction with the evolution of new branches and methods in mathematics. The core of the program is comprised of specially designed courses geared towards students with different backgrounds (mathematics and physics), supplemented by a wide range of electives which can include courses at HSE.
