We are pleased to invite you to the Skoltech Colloquium. Guest speaker this week will be Prof Daniel L. Jafferis of Harvard University.

When: December  4, 4pm

What: “Gauge theory and quantum gravity”.

Guest Speaker: Daniel L. Jafferis, Assistant Professor of Phisics, Harvard University Department of Physics.

Where: Hypercube, 7th floor

Abstract: Two of the biggest questions in fundamental physics are the nature of the quantum theory of gravity, and the behavior of systems that are strongly interacting. The former appears as the natural endpoint of the search for the most basic principles of nature describing even the shortest distance scales. The latter applies to many systems which exhibit interesting emergent phenomena. I will explain these topics and their surprising connection through dualities and string theory.

Please confirm your attendance. A pass will be required.

Transfers:

If you go by car please pass the details of your car to Ms. Alesya Garifullina. A pass will be required.

You can also use our shuttle bus which will depart from Slavyansky  Boulevard at 3:15pm (last carriage from the city center, turn right and then go around the metro vestibule).

The bus will go to the MSM first, and at 3:45 will depart from the MSM’s parking area near Karakorum building to the Hypercube.

We look forward to seeing you.
