Skoltech has been selected from 60 candidates and won a substantial grant to enter a consortium that will establish a World-class Science Center (WSC) in the priority area “Environmentally safe and resource-saving energy and efficient regional use of subsoil and bioresources” within the “Science” national project. A list of 10 WSCs for 6 priority areas has been approved for the project.
Mikhail Spasennykh, Director of the Skoltech Center for Hydrocarbon Recovery (CHR):“Our Center benefits from sizeable funding for applied research under contracts with our industrial partners, as well as various categories of grants for basic research and advanced applied studies. This substantial 6-year grant will help amplify our research efforts in several areas pursued by CHR, which is particularly valuable in the face of the pandemic and the crisis in the oil and gas industry.”
Skoltech will contribute to establishing a new WSC, “Sustainable development of global hydrocarbon reserves”, alongside other consortium members, such as Kazan Federal University, Ufa State Petroleum Technological University, and Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas.
Skoltech’s WSC project grant for 2020-2025 amounts to about half a billion rubles within the total project budget of 2.6 billion
