Dear Skoltech community,
Russian Science Day is a festive occasion for all of us at Skoltech, from 1st year MSc students to world-renowned scholars. This is also an excellent opportunity to identify ambitious goals and great challenges facing Skoltech and the entire scientific community in Russia. Now more than ever, we need telling evidence of the critical role of science for the advancement of society.
Skoltech takes great pride in two major achievements of the past year: we built a 5G pilot zone based on Skoltech’s software jointly with MTS and created an AI-based healthcare ecosystem in collaboration with Sber. Importantly, these successes, like many others, show that Skoltech has every right to have the word ‘technology’ as part of its name. Let this be our development trend for the coming years. Yet, all of us are aware that technological advancement and especially breakthroughs are inconceivable without basic research which gives “brief answers to the big questions” and forms the core of world-changing technologies.
