Osiptsov presented an overview of climate-related causes and technologies for energy transition 4.0, with a focus on carbon capture, utilization, and storage, as well as hydrogen technologies. Professor Vorobev talked about renewable energy technologies and sustainability of energy networks. Speakers from the European University at St. Petersburg presented the background of sustainable development challenges and nonfinancial reporting standards, and New Economic School professors focused on ESG risk management in banking, green finance instruments, and aspects of society and corporate governance as part of the ESG agenda. Tatiana Mitrova, the head of research at the Energy Centre of the Moscow School of Management Skolkovo, gave a talk as a guest speaker.

In light of the lingering pandemic, the course was delivered online. All the speakers gathered in a studio to give their online talks. The sessions were moderated by Natalya Tretyak, the first vice president and secretary of the Council for Sustainable Development at Gazprombank, and Evgeny Khilinsky, the head of the bank’s Center for Sustainable Development.

The online audience of over 150 Gazprombank executives and employees included deputy chairmen of the management board, heads of departments and Gazprombank Group companies. The course was opened by Alexey Matveev — deputy chairman of the management board and chairman of the Council for Sustainable Development.

Concluding the course, Elena Borisenko, deputy chairwoman of the management board and deputy chairwoman of the Council for Sustainable Development, thanked the speakers for covering extensive content in a one-day event: “You presented highly interesting material that we will use to enhance Gazprombank’s sustainable development strategy. With the industrial sector forming the core of our corporate clientele, it is of particular importance for Gazprombank to gain a deep insight into decarbonization technology. As for the retail segment, most of school and university students, who will soon become our customers, already share the values of sustainable development and environmental protection, and this will be our priority for the long-term development strategy as regards new products.”
