Skoltech is an international graduate research-focused university that was founded by the group of world-renowned scientists in 2011. Skoltech's curriculum focuses on technology and innovation, offering Master's programs in 11 technological disciplines. Students receive rigorous theoretical and practical training, design their own research projects, participate in internships and gain entrepreneurial skills in English. Ivan Sherstov

Director for Research

Ivan Sherstov joins Skoltech with a strong foundation in research both in Russia and Germany. During his scientific career, he worked as a researcher in Leibnitz Universität Hannover (Germany) and at the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt in Braunschweig and Berlin. Through his research, he published various articles in the field of laser manipulation of atoms and molecules. In 2011, he returned to Russia and joined the Skolkovo Foundation as an Advisor for the Department for University Development, where he was tasked with founding the research section at Skoltech. Ivan earned his degree as an engineer-physicist in the field of solid state physics from what is now the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI. In 2006, he received his PhD degree in quantum optics from Leibnitz Universität Hannover in Germany.
