The Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) is a private graduate research university in Skolkovo, Russia, a suburb of Moscow.
Established in 2011 in collaboration with MIT, Skoltech educates global leaders in innovation, advances scientific knowledge, and fosters new technologies to address critical issues facing Russia and the world. Applying international research and educational models, the university concentrates on five strategic areas: Biomedicine, Energy, Information Technology, Nuclear Science and Technology, and Space Science and Technology.
Skoltech Vision — Bridging Science and Innovation
The language of instruction at Skoltech is English, and students complete all of the coursework for the M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs in English. Incoming M.Sc. and Ph.D. students must provide evidence of English proficiency as part of the application process.
Skoltech M.Sc. Programs at a Glance
By 2020, Skoltech will grow to about 500 M.Sc. and 700 Ph.D. students. The first M.Sc. students – a group of 20 in the IT and Energy programs – enrolled in a pilot program in 2012. A second group of M.Sc. students in the IT and Energy programs was selected in the spring of 2013 and will join them at Skoltech in the late summer of 2013. A small group of pilot students in the Biomedical program will study abroad in 2013-2014, as will 5 students in the Product Design and Realization.
