Skoltech enters QS World University Rankings by Subject 2021 in Petroleum Engineering

Skoltech has, for the first time, entered QS World University Rankings by Subject, a prestigious ranking headlined by the top universities in the world.

The QS World University Rankings by Subject are compiled annually to help prospective students identify the leading universities in a particular subject. Research citations, along with the results of major global surveys of employers and academics are used to rank universities.

Skoltech was ranked 101-150 in Petroleum Engineering, recognizing the university’s excellent MSc in Petroleum Engineering program managed by Center for Hydrocarbon Recovery (CHR) and Center for Computational and Data-Intensive Science and Engineering (CDISE). It hit the top ten universities in this subject area in Russia alongside Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (National Research University) and RUDN University.

“We are very proud to be included in the ranking, and we realize that this is just the beginning of a long journey alongside the world’s best universities. Most importantly, this mark of international recognition will further motivate the best students to join Petroleum Engineering MSc Program at Skoltech,” Dimitry Pissarenko, Skoltech Professor and MSc and PhD Petroleum Engineering program director, noted.

“We are happy that just after five years of MSc Petroleum Engineering program start, the education program is recognized by QS World Ranking. We are grateful to our professors and students for their excellent work and achievements”, Alexey Cheremisin, Associate Professor and Deputy Director of the Center for Hydrocarbon Recovery, added.
