On September 12, the National Technology Initiative (NTI) competence center launched the first 5G base station at Skoltech within the framework of a “pilot zone” for Russian equipment developers. Testing will take place at a frequency range of 4.8-4.99 GHz and tests have already been conducted on 5G smartphones (Huawei Mate 20X), during which data transfer speeds reached of over 300mb/s. The number of 5G stations is expected to increase towards the end of the year.
