Nanoengineering with DNA

The Nanoengineering with DNA laboratory focuses on molecular self-assembly techniques, with a particular emphasis on engineering optical devices using the DNA origami method. Our research aims to create artificial assemblies with nanoscale architectures that function at the molecular level while extending to macroscopic dimensions. To achieve this, we integrate self-assembled DNA nanostructures with lithographically defined environments directly on chip surfaces.

Students develop skills in designing, modeling, and fabricating DNA origami, as well as in core chemical and biological laboratory techniques and advanced imaging methods, including atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). They also gain hands-on experience in modern nanofabrication and electron-beam lithography in the Skoltech Cleanroom.

Join us and contribute to the art of designing DNA strands that self-assemble into intricate nanodevices!
