Professor of Practice Andreas Panayi from the Engineering Center spoke at the international conference “Prevention of Aircraft-Bird Collisions,” organized by the Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) in Moscow on April 16, 2026.

As part of the event, the “Hishnik” project was presented, a next-generation system for proactive bird strike risk management. The proposed solution is aimed at transitioning from traditional reactive measures to intelligent, adaptive real-time intervention strategies.

The project attracted strong interest and received positive feedback from airport operators in Russia and CIS countries, as well as from IAC representatives. Following the conference, the potential for pilot implementation of the system at airports in the region is being considered.

IAC was established under the 1991 Intergovernmental Agreement on Civil Aviation and the Use of Airspace to coordinate the activities of post-Soviet states in the field of civil aviation.
