Evgeny Chekhonin is a specialist in thermal petrophysics and geothermy (modeling, interpretation, and experimental data analysis), basin and petroleum system modeling (thermal history reconstruction), numerical modeling of heat and mass transfer in rock massif (thermal EOR, radioactive waste disposal, reconstruction of undisturbed formation temperature) or rock samples (optical scanning, line-source, etc.), numerical and theoretical modeling of hydraulic fracturing (growth mechanic, leak-off, monitoring of growth, cleanup via electrokinetic effects). 

Evgeny graduated from Gubkin University in 2003 (dpt. of Mathematics and Computer Simulation) and defended his PhD thesis there in 2006 (scientific advisor Professor Vladimir Entov). Before joining Skoltech in 2015, Evgeny had more than 9 years of research experience in Schlumberger Moscow Research Center, 5 years of research experience in the Ishlinsky Institute for Problems in Mechanics RAS, and 2 years of lecturing and consulting in Yukos STC (2003-2004). With over 25 years of research experience, Evgeny uses his expertise in mathematics, physics, geology, and programming to develop, implement, and promote advanced methods of thermal petrophysics and geothermy, along with Professor Popov Y.A., to tackle diverse issues (reservoir characterization, increasing the reliability of thermohydrodynamic modeling, etc.). He has participated in more than 30 client projects and grants at Skoltech. Evgeny also participates in education and training as a lecturer of diverse courses (“Thermal petrophysics and Geothermy”, “Introduction to Petroleum Engineering”, «Unconventional Hydrocarbons» and the professional skill rising courses of CPSE) and as a co-advisor for MS and PhD students.

Dr. Chekhonin has more than 60 publications indexed by Scopus (30% of them in Q1 journals), 7 granted patents, and recognized reviewer status (40+ reviews for Q1 and Q2 journals).
