Professor Gainetdinov to Oversee Dopamine Receptor Classification

Professor Raul Gainetdinov was recently elected Chair of the Subcommittee on the Dopamine Receptor Family within the influential International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology Committee on Receptor Nomenclature and Drug Classification (NC-IUPHAR).

The NC-IUPHAR strives to improve medicines around the world through global education and research. The NC-IUPHAR standardizes classifications of biological components and medicines, acts as an interface between the discovery of new sequences from the Human Genome Project and the designation of the resulting entities, and openly shares this information through an authoritative and free global online database.

In Raul’s role as Chair of the Subcommittee on the Dopamine Receptor Family, he will nominate members of the Subcommittee, provide updates on dopamine receptor classification, pharmacology and properties, and publish IUPHAR drug classification and nomenclature reviews in the most influential pharmacological journals such as Pharmacological Reviews.

Raul recently received a professorship at Skoltech and will begin in June 2013.
