From July 6-11, Skoltech will take part in one of the most important conferences in the life sciences — the Federation of European Biochemical Societies Congress 2013 “Mechanisms in Biology” in St. Petersburg. Over 2,700 participants, including 11 Nobel Laureates will gather to discuss a wide spectrum of ground-breaking achievements in molecular life science research. During the event, Skoltech Senior Vice President for Research and Innovation Edward Seidel will also be announcing the creation of the Skoltech Center for Stem Cell Research.

Senior Vice President of Research and Innovation Edward Seidel and Co-Director for the Skoltech Center for Stem Cell Research Sergei Kisilev will present the first Center for Research, Education and Innovation. Learn about this unique international collaboration to produce transplantable stem cells from induced pluripotent cells. The cooperation between Skoltech, the Vavilov Institute of General Genetics, University Medical Centre Groningen and a number of other partnering institutes will use this new knowledge to help develop personalized medicines.
Plenary Lecture: The Molecular Basis of Eukaryotic Transcription

Skoltech Professor Konstantin Severinov and Professor Jaak Järv of the Estonian Academy of Sciences chair a lecture by Roger Kornberg. Kornberg won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2006 and conducts research at Stanford University Medical School. He is also currently the Co-Chairman of the Skolkovo Scientific and Technical Council.
