Skoltech is an international graduate research-focused university that was founded by the group of world-renowned scientists in 2011. Memorandum of Understanding between Skoltech and Italian Institute of Technology

We are glad to inform that on November 26, 2013 Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology” (Skoltech) and Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) have signed the Memorandum of Understanding.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed in Trieste by scientific director of the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roberto Cingolani, and vice president of Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech), Mikhail Myagkov, on occasion of the Business Forum Italy-Russia, a memorandum of understanding to explore possibility of collaboration in areas of research priority for both institutions: life sciences and biomedical technologies, portable power sources and information technology.

The signing of the agreement starts an exchange of visits and researchers aimed at testing the feasibility of joint initiatives in scientific research, in the specialization of graduate students and post-doc, in the development and transfer of innovative technologies to enterprises.

For IIT today’s agreement is the first signed with a Russian research institute. Although of recent institution (2011), Skoltech has already proven its ability to attract the best students from Russia and has filed numerous collaborations with some of the most important scientific institutions and universities worldwide. To facilitate the agreement was mutual understanding between the two institutions gained by sharing some scientists who after working at IIT signed up for important roles in Skoltech.

“I’m sure that the partnership with the Italian Institute of Technology is highly important for Skoltech. We have plenty of similarities between us, one can notice in structure and approaches. We expect the valuable contribution from the Italian side in applied research. No doubt such an exchange would bring mutual benefits”, said Mikhail Myagkov, Skoltech Vice-President of Academic Affairs.
