The event that took place at Skoltech on 15 November is a kind of rehearsal before the commencement of the main competition. The scholarship that will be granted to the Skoltech student is awarded on an exceptional basis. Apart from that, the Vladimir Potanin Foundation scholarship will be also granted to 300 master’s students and lecturers of the master’s courses from Russia’s 75 leading public and non-public universities participating in the Foundation’s scholarship programme. The competition for distributing the scholarships among the short-listed universities will continue until the beginning of February.

“Skoltech master’s students are the best students from technical universities of Russia and other countries of the world. Therefore, we got, in particular, this idea to hone the complex procedure of the selection of scholarship recipients with the help of the platform of this university,” said Oksana Oracheva, Executive Director of the Vladimir Potanin Foundation. “We have a lot of intersections with Skoltech in terms of content. It involves, first of all, new non-standard approaches to education, orientation towards positive social and economic impact, the training of socially responsible leaders… With regard to our cooperation plans in the short-term, we will be happy to attract the teaching staff of Skoltech to carrying out the expert assessment of competition applications. And, of course, we will be very pleased to see Skoltech among participants in the other programmes of the Foundation.”

Potanin scholarship_3“The Vladimir Potanin Foundation is one of the oldest private foundations in Russia and, possibly, the most well-known one among students, lecturers and the employers recruiting their prospective staff from among graduates. Over the years of its existence, the Foundation has proven to be one of the leaders – recognised by the education and business communities – providing support for intellectually gifted people. Here our values match. That is why Skoltech perceives cooperation with the Foundation as an important factor in its development,” said Skoltech development director Ivan Khlebnikov. “Today’s event is a good opportunity for its participants to exchange experience and familiarise themselves with the new technologies of mutual work of students and lecturers. It is also great team-building for the students. And, of course, the fact that a Skoltech student is awarded the Potanin scholarship will attest to the high assessment of the level of our students. I am sure that in the future there will be many Potanin scholarship holders at Skoltech.”
