Arkady Dvorkovich elected Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech).

The Deputy  Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Arkady Dvorkovich was elected Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) at the meeting held at Skolkovo on December 11. Dvorkovich succeeds Vladislav Surkov, aide to the President of the Russian Federation, who held the position since Skoltech was founded in 2011.

On behalf of the Skoltech Board of Trustees, Mr. Dvorkovich expressed profound gratitude towards Mr. Surkov for his contribution to the establishment of  Skoltech and the organization of the  the efficient functioning of the Skoltech Board of Trustees at the very early and complicated phases of Institute’s development. “For the last three years, – said  Dvorkovich – the process of building of the Board of Trustees has been largely completed, needed committees providing the efficient functioning of Skoltech created, and their cooperation with other governing bodies has been established . In the course of these years Skoltech Board of Trustees developed  into an effective governance  body, defining  the priority areas and bringing the dynamic and efficient development of Skoltech”.

Vladislav Surkov will continue to work  as a board member and participate in the development of Skoltech as a modern, international technology university.

Among the topics discussed at the Board meeting were the results  of work of Skoltech in 2014. The Board approved the Operation plan and the 2015 budget of the Institute. The Board members supported the participation of Skoltech in the priority national initiatives, its work to benefit the industry, and set the targets to implement the research, educational and innovative programs.
