At Skoltech, the graduates of the Sirius education center summed up the work of the TurboScience program, which was implemented within the framework of the partnership between the Talent and Success Foundation and the Skolkovo Foundation.
The essence of individual tutoring was to open for the graduates of special programs of Sirius the opportunity to personally communicate with young scientists and experts of Skoltech about interesting natural phenomena and topics of advanced scientific research. The project participants could personally receive expert advice on the choice of the research field and educational trajectories.
The scientific supervisor of the program was Professor Boris Fine, and tutors – undergraduates and post-graduate students of physical specialties studying in Skoltech.
At the final presentation, the participants presented their theoretical, research and design work:
Daniil Kukhmistrov (Chelyabinsk, tutor – Sergey Voloshenyuk), demonstrated how to use the derivatives to solve the Olympiad problems in physics;
Elizabeth Popova (Korolev, tutor – Daniil Antonenko) spoke about the use of complex numbers in physics;
Ilya Bednik (Angarsk, Irkutsk region, tutor – Professor Boris Fine) in the presentation “How Skyscrapers Wobble” told how to calculate the deviation of the roof of the tallest skyscraper in the USA under the influence of a strong wind;
Alexei Kudrinsky (Perm, tutor – David Saikin) shared the results of his research on the acceleration of air flows with the help of pipes of various shapes;
Yuri Juma (Moscow, tutor – Andrei Tarkhov), presented the project “Laser eraser” about his initial experiments on the development of technology that makes it possible to use a laser to erase from sheets of paper the inscriptions printed on a laser printer, and thus solve the problem of the re-use of paper in an office;
Igor Korkin (Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, tutor – Arseniy Nestyuk) developed the Black Box application, using the Python programming language, with which you can simulate experiments with electrical circuits in the absence of real equipment in school laboratories.
It should be noted that the beginning of cooperation between Sirius and Skoltekh was made in October 2016, within the framework of the Moscow Forum “Open Innovations”.
The very idea of a tutoring project arose in April last year, when Boris Fine made a speech before the participants of the physical education program with lectures “Chaos” and “Superconductivity”.
The Educational Center Sirius in the city of Sochi was created by the Educational Foundation “Talent and Success” on the basis of the Olympic infrastructure on the initiative of the President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin. The Fund was established on December 24, 2014 by outstanding Russian figures of science, sports and art. The purpose of the work of the Sirius Educational Center is early detection, development and further professional support of gifted children who have shown outstanding abilities in the field of arts, sports, natural science disciplines, and also succeeded in technical creativity.
