Astronauts, cosmonauts and other high-profile space professionals will congregate at Skoltech on Saturday to participate in the SpaceUp unconference.

SpaceUp is a unique platform that draws together seasoned professionals, early-career professionals and students for a free exchange of ideas about all things space. Since its first iteration in San Diego in 2010, the SpaceUp model has spread globally, taking place in cities ranging from Lagos, Nigeria to Trondheim, Norway.

Saturday’s event will be Skoltech’s second time hosting SpaceUp. Among this year’s illustrious panel of invited speakers will be several individuals who have experienced spaceflight first-hand, including Switzerland’s first astronaut Claude Nicollier, French astronaut Jean-Jacques Favier, and Russian cosmonaut Sergei Revin.

They will participate in a panel discussion on the limitations of current space development alongside three industry greats.

A defining factor of SpaceUp is the opportunity for all attendees – from experienced cosmonauts to first-year space students – to give presentations on anything related to space. Topics can run the gamut from traditional spheres of space research like astrophysics and cosmology, to more seldom discussed topics like space law and art in the cosmos.

Everyone in the attendance will also have the opportunity to sample space food, courtesy of the company Astrofoods

We welcome journalists and news teams to attend all or part of the event.
