Last week, team WAICO, which included Skoltech students Vyacheslav Kozitsin and Iurii Katser, won the “Digital Breakthrough” competition. The winners received a 500,000 RUB prize and mentorship opportunities at Gazprom Neft.
“Digital Breakthrough” is a new contest from the platform, “Russia – the Country of Opportunities”. The contest targets digital design, IT and management professionals and takes place once a year. Participants take an online test and then join a 36 or 46-hour hackathon where they design their prototypes in teams of 3-5 people.
The WAICO team is comprised of five members: Vyacheslav Kozitsin (Skoltech, Data Science), Iurii Katser (Skoltech, Data Science), Maksimov Ivan (Tsifrum, Rosatom, back-end developer), Dmitry Malyugin (front-end developer), and Boris Zagorulko (designer). The team’s goal was to develop a prototype for a data analysis service, which would measure pipe thickness. WAICO successfully completed the task, presented its prototype to the jury and won the competition.
WAICO members are now working on introducing their prototype to industry.
“We are currently actively working with Gazprom Neft representatives. We plan to turn this prototype into an industrial-level service and put it to use at the leading petroleum companies”, says Vyacheslav Kozitsin, WAICO team member.
We congratulate team WAICO and wish them the best of luck in their future ventures!
