The Skoltech Center for Neurobiology and Brain Restoration held its first CNBR_Open event of the year, bringing together people keen on neuroscience, neurotech companies, young scientists and seasoned researchers engaged in various fields of brain science.
The Director of the High School of Economics (HSE) Centre for Bioelectric Interfaces, Professor Alexey Ossadtchi, and a Centre researcher, Nikolay Smetanin, delivered a scientific seminar and an open lecture, looking into the capabilities and prospects of magnetic encephalography for medical use and new methods for solving the inverse problem that play a key role in MEG data interpretation.
An open lecture held on February 12, 2020 focused on the capabilities of brain-computer interfaces (BCI), the cutting-edge research in this field and the experiments conducted currently by various research groups.
The open lecture included a demo of the BCI and an overview of the signal analysis and the learning process. Two students volunteered to try on the BCI, applying their thinking power to control objects and competing in covering the route in a neurocomputer game while monitoring their mental state.
The event attracted professors of the Skoltech Center for Neurobiology and Brain Restoration, Skoltech research groups and students and young researchers from leading universities: Moscow State University (MSU), Bauman Moscow State Technical University (MSTU), Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys (MISiS), Sechenov First Medical University (MGMU), Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University (RNRMU), 2035 University and Russian regional universities, MEG Center, and two neurotech companies.
