A paper by Skoltech scientists enters the Top 100 publications on Materials Science in Scientific Reports

Scientists from the Skoltech Center for Design, Manufacturing and Materials (CDMM) in collaboration with researchers from Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) and Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) developed a new method of replacing carbon atoms with nitrogen atoms in the crystal lattice of supercapacitors that helped increase the capacity of energy sources. The paper featuring their research results entered the Top 100 publications on Materials Science in the high-profile journal, Scientific Reports.

“As electricity consumption grows by the year, new portable devices are developed that require reliable power sources. The paper published in Scientific Reports presents a simple method of modifying the surface of carbon materials which helps significantly increase their specific electrochemical properties. The new method can be used to create thin-film current sources,” says Stanislav Evlashin, one of the authors of the paper and a senior research scientist at Skoltech.
