Already a Skolkovo resident, Eco Energy is poised to become the first Skoltech startup to join the Lomonosov Innovation Cluster, exemplifying a successful Skoltech startup integrating further into Moscow’s innovation ecosystem.

Eco Energy specializes in developing industrial and home equipment that converses organic waste into energy (biogas) and organic fertilizers. Presently, only 30% of organic waste in Russia is recycled. Deposit of organic waste at agricultural and industrial facilities and landfills releases harmful methane gases and CO2 into the atmosphere and severely contaminates water and soil. Eco Energy’s cutting-edge technology can reduce these emissions and decrease the recycling process’s cost by up to 30% while eliminating up to 100% of methane and CO2 emissions compared to traditional waste disposal systems.

During the Academy of Innovators program, Eco Energy proved the concept and secured an agribusiness partner from the Kuban region. The parties are discussing a collaboration to restore the soil fertility of the fields in the Kuban area. The team has reached out to potential suppliers to prepare a full-scale prototype and applied for a Skolkovo grant. The team works on accelerating the testing and certification process to bring their product to market by the end of next year.

The Academy of Innovators is a program by the Lomonosov Innovation Cluster designed to transform the innovative ideas of aspiring entrepreneurs into successful, full-scale businesses. Participants can expect comprehensive assistance in launching and scaling their projects,  Minimum Viable Product (MVP) development, corporate pilot programs, and product market entry. The Academy’s lecture program covers fundamental disciplines necessary for novice entrepreneurs, supplemented with applied tools from the Moscow Innovation Cluster and other development institutions.
