Skoltech’s Applied AI Center organized an on-campus R&D Day dedicated to artificial intelligence for colleagues from Sber. During the event, Skoltech scientists and researchers presented their current achievements in the field of AI and discussed potential applications of their research. The program consisted of both formal sessions and poster presentations, as well as networking activities. Thirty-two research projects in areas spanning AI, machine learning, computer vision, and more were showcased. The event attracted over 120 participants.

“Sber is a key strategic and educational partner of Skoltech,” Senior Vice President for Development Alexander Safonov said at the opening of the event. “Skoltech has six strands of research, and artificial intelligence is one of them. It is uniquely pervasive, touching upon all the other areas.”
The collaboration between Sber and Skoltech is dynamically evolving, with Skoltech’s expertise in high demand at Sber. The areas of collaboration already cover fields from robotics to AI in medicine, and one of the goals of the R&D Day is to identify points of convergence in other promising domains.
Sberbank Vice President and Director of Research and Innovation Albert Yefimov addressed the Skoltech scientists, emphasizing: “The most important aspect today is our communication, which can foster new ideas. Please try to understand what the customer needs. It’s one thing for you to create things that are interesting to you, and it’s another when you devise something that’s fascinating, useful, and in demand by Sberbank and society.”
