Skoltech is excited to invite you to Hackathon 2.0 – our first Skoltech Education hackathon! This 24-hour hackathon will take place in 2013, beginning November 30th at 11:00 and ending December 1st at 19:00 at API Moscow, and will be open to all interested student participants from universities and employees of companies from Moscow.
What:
Hackathon (meaning hack + marathon, also known as a hack day, hackfest or codefest) is an event in which students, computer programmers and others involved in software development, including graphic designers, interface designers and project managers, get together, collaborate intensively on software projects and transform their crazy ideas into something real. Hackathons typically last between a day and a week.
Topic:
Skoltech Hackathon 2.0 is devoted to education. The goal is to create real cool prototypes from scratch, and you will have 24 hours for that. Show off what you’ve created to your peers, judges, and corporate sponsors, and get awesome prizes! The winners will be awarded in several nominations.
All are welcome! Programming skills are desired. You can come as a team or as an individual.
Language of the event:
Skoltech Hackathon 2.0 will be dual language. All organizational announcements will be made in English. Final presentations can be either in English or in Russian.

September 15 at 10.30, Hypercube. Skoltech students are organizing the first Hackathon in the Hypercube, Skolkovo.
At this event, the Skoltech community will analyze how to make the space they study and work in a better place. It is a great opportunity to spend the upcoming Sunday in an intellectually intensive and competitive atmosphere, working in teams on a given problem and having fun together. Free Food, drinks and music are waiting everyone! (Open only to the Skoltech Community)
Hackathons are one-day events where programmers and IT enthusiasts come together and solve a given problem developing a code or application for mobile devices. However, the Skoltech hackathon “The Cube” is a bit different. The event will be organized in teams as a brainstorming session for more than just IT guys, but all Skoltech students, faculty, and staff who would like to participate. The topics will focus on improving the Hypercube. After the session, every team will present to a committee of judges a proposal to improve the Hypercube’s infrastructure and present on what resources, timeframe, and team would be needed to implement the given project. The best proposals will receive funding (if needed) and teams will start implementing their projects.
We consider “The Cube” as a unique and useful experience for all participants. It will help to form a culture of caring about Skoltech and improving the world around us. And who knows, maybe you can even start a new venture from it!
“The Cube” will become the first Skoltech hackathon in series. However, in the future, external participants will be invited to take part in Skoltech’s Hackathons.
