On November 18, the “30 Years of Israel and Russia’s Diplomatic Relations” ceremony was held on the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev campus. Co-organized by the Russian Embassy and Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the event was attended by government ministers, other officials, and business people from both sides.
At the end of the ceremony with guests online, Skoltech President Alexander Kuleshov and BGU Rector Chaim Hames signed a memorandum of understanding to promote collaborative research. The starting point for the two research universities’ cooperation on R&D and innovation activity is developing and implementing sensor systems based on photonics.
This is a result of joint work between Skoltech’s Professor Arkady Shipulin and Associate Professor Alina Karabchevsky of the Department of Electrooptic and Photonics Engineering at BGU’s School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, who heads the Light-on-a-Chip Center at BGU and is the chair of the IEEE Women in Engineering Affinity Group, Israel Section.
