Skoltech’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation is organizing the third annual UMNIK program.

UMNIK is a pre-seed funding program created by Russia’s Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises.

Each year, young Russian scientists are eligible to receive up to RUB 500,000 in funding to develop their scientific ideas. The winners of these nonrefundable, nontaxable grants are selected via a two-stage process.

The window for proposal submissions is now open and will remain as such until 19 November.

The final round of selection will take place on 19 December.

You are eligible to participate in the competition if you meet the following criteria:

  • You have an innovative idea/project in one of the following fields:
    • IT
    • Medicine
    • Biotech
    • Advanced materials
    • Hardware systems
  • You are aged 18-30
  • You are a citizen of Russia
  • Have not won an UMNIK grant before

In December 2015, 11 UNMIK winners were selected. In 2016, that figure was three.
