The prestigious education conference, “Ostrov 10-22,” began today at Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology. This is the second Ostrov conference and it is the first time that Skoltech is playing host to it as well as being one of the eight organizers. The goal is to create and develop regional university teams that can implement systematic changes in the field of training for technological development. It has drawn over 1500 participants from across Russia and abroad, representing a twofold increase since last year.

Last year’s event, Ostrov 10-21, attracted more than 1000 entrepreneurs, investors, participants, academics, students and talented school pupils. It was there that, for the first time, fundamentally new approaches and intensive training practices with the use of AI technologies were developed.
Ostrov 10-22, as one might guess from its title, takes place over a period of twelve days, occupying most of Skoltech’s new campus, or “Eastern Ring” as it is properly known. Day 1 opened with an air of excitement with people packing the campus main hall to listen to Skoltech’s president, Alexander Kuleshev, offer words of welcome.
Other speakers included Arkady Dvorkovich, Dmitry Peskov, and Alexander Povalko. The event will focus on ten different areas: crosscutting technologies, National Technology Initiative markets, management based on data, humanities, educational technologies, new formats for further education, ecosystems and urban planning, technological entrepreneurship and technologies transfer, future practices, and thinking clubs.
It is a great honor for Skoltech to play host to such an event, as it further legitimizes its role as a supporter of education, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
