Dear Skoltech community,
First of all, I would like to thank our faculty, researchers and employees for their dedication and commitment in this tough situation that requires news kind of interaction.
Our research and, most importantly, our education are switching to the online format. So is the admission campaign which will most likely be very difficult this year. Some of our experimental projects are moving forward despite the social distancing and other restrictions.
The current developments in Russia and the world will certainly have an impact on Skoltech. Our local and international industrial partners are faced with great difficulties that we are likely to experience too in the near future. Yet I am confident that we will face up to the challenge, even if takes sacrifice on our part.
Skoltech has potential which we have not yet used to the full extent. In a comfortable situation, it is too difficult to make others (and oneself) go full force. Now the time has come to decide if we can do this. Of course, it is up to each of us to make the choice.
History shows that the time of trouble is always followed by breakthroughs in basic science and technology. As Nietzsche said, “That which does not kill us makes us stronger”. And smarter, too. We’ll make it, I’m sure!
