Skoltech Professor Ivan Oseledets won the Humboldt Research Award

Ivan Oseledets, Full Professor at the Skoltech Center for Computational and Data-Intensive Science and Engineering (CDISE) and head of the Laboratory of Computational Intelligence, has been selected to receive a Humboldt Research Award from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.

The foundation sponsors distinguished international scientists and scholars irrespectively of their academic discipline or nationality. Its goal is to maintain an international network of academic cooperation and trust. The award is conferred in recognition of the winner’s entire academic record to date.

As an award winner, Professor Oseledets is invited to carry out research projects with colleagues in Germany. He says he intends to work with the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics (ITWM) on industrial projects in modelling various physical processes using AI technologies and machine learning.

“I am honored to be selected to receive this award. It helps develop international collaboration in challenging times… What’s important to me is not just the recognition but also the opportunity to do something new,” Professor Oseledets said.

“Skoltech is a key element of the network of technological development institutions in Russia. We have internationally recognized faculty, and we are happy that our professors and their students are the new leaders in science and technology. This award to Professor Oseledets testifies to that fact,” Alexander Kuleshov, Skoltech President and Full Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said.
