Skoltech has released a new book in a series of public analytical reports — on livestock technologies

Skoltech has released a new white paper, Technological Transformation of Beef and Dairy Cattle Breeding. This is the sixth edition in the series of public analytical reports. Skoltech is confident that the materials collected in the new publication will be useful to specialists working in the field of biotechnology, which is important for creation of Russia’s own breeding base in animal husbandry.

The publication was prepared by the Scoltech’s Analytical Department on Science & Technology Development in cooperation with leading scientists and experts; the book was published in February this year in an edition of 200 copies.

The new book is a very large-scale work, which, in my opinion, will be very useful to those who want to get a complete picture of the state and vectors of technology development in dairy and beef cattle breeding,” said Nataliya Zinovieva, the editor of the book, director of the Federal Research Center for Animal Husbandry named after Academy Member L.K. Ernst, RAS academician.

The initiators of the project have repeatedly emphasized that the main task of the white papers is educational. The chosen format of the public analytical report combines economic and technological analysis of promising scientific-technological areas conducted by leading researchers.

We looked in detail at four groups of technologies in the field of beef and dairy cattle breeding and identified Russia’s strengths and weaknesses. To reduce dependence on imported technologies in the areas where we have strong domestic scientific and technological base, it is important to develop cooperation between the state (research institutes and universities) and entrepreneurial sectors,” said Irina Dezhina, head of the authors’ team and chief editor of the new publication, head of the Analytical Department on Science & Technology Development in Skoltech.

The Technological Transformation of Beef and Dairy Cattle Breeding is the sixth issue in the series of White Papers (Public Analytical Reports) issued by the department. The book examines both the economic and political aspects of the development of the respective fields, the dynamics of the markets, and the specifics and potential of selected technological areas. Among other things, a comparative patent analysis of the development of cattle breeding technologies in Russia and the world was conducted.

White papers are widely distributed among scientific organizations and universities, ministries, development institutes; they are used in the educational process as reference books. In the near future, Skoltech will send a part of the edition to the libraries of specialized Russian universities and research centers. Representatives of the Federal centre for animal health, Kuban State Agrarian University, as well as other institutions have already expressed interest in receiving the new book. You can also get this book by participating in profile conferences and events. An electronic version of the book is available on the page of the Analytical Department on the Skoltech website.

The Skoltech White Paper series include: Advanced Manufacturing Technologies (2015), Development of Photonics in Russia (2016), Promising Technologies and Directions for Oil and Gas Development (2017), Prospective Markets and Technologies of the Internet of Things (2019), Technologies for Recovery and Expansion of the Human Brain Resources (2020), Technological Transformation of Beef and Dairy Cattle Breeding (2022).
