Skoltech is an international graduate research-focused university that was founded by the group of world-renowned scientists in 2011. Skoltech's curriculum focuses on technology and innovation, offering Master's programs in 11 technological disciplines. Students receive rigorous theoretical and practical training, design their own research projects, participate in internships and gain entrepreneurial skills in English. The faculty is comprised of current researchers with international accreditation and achievements.

Applications for the Summer School of Machine Learning in Altai by Skoltech is now open

Applications are now open for the Summer of Machine Learning at Skoltech (SMILES) from August 20th to 31st in Belokurikha Gornaya, a unique mountainous area in the Altai Krai region. SMILES-2023 is a 12-day intensive course designed for young professionals to apply their knowledge of physics and machine learning to solve complex engineering challenges in sustainable development.

Master’s and doctoral students from leading universities in Russia and young researchers actively involved in machine learning research are invited to participate. The lectures will cover modern machine learning tools and approaches that integrate physical-mathematical models with predictive machine learning models. Practical seminars will demonstrate how these physically informed methods play a crucial role in addressing real-world sustainable development issues.

Participants will have the opportunity to implement the discussed methods and algorithms in their own projects during a hackathon, forming teams of 2-4 people. The best projects will receive prizes.

Classes will be conducted in Russian, both in-person and online. Participation is free of charge after a competitive selection process. To learn more and submit an application, visit https://smiles.skoltech.ru/

“Skoltech has been at the forefront of organizing machine learning schools. In 2019, we hosted the renowned international Machine Learning Summer School (MLSS) for the first time in Russia. We have since continued this initiative under our own brand, SMILES (Summer of Machine Learning at Skoltech). This year, the school focuses on addressing complex engineering challenges in sustainable development in the unique Altai Krai region. Those interested in participating should act promptly, as the application deadline is June 15th,” said Professor Evgeny Burnaev, the head of Skoltech Applied AI and the organizer of SMILES-2023.
