Skoltech is an international graduate research-focused university that was founded by the group of world-renowned scientists in 2011. Skoltech's curriculum focuses on technology and innovation, offering Master's programs in 11 technological disciplines. Students receive rigorous theoretical and practical training, design their own research projects, participate in internships and gain entrepreneurial skills in English. The faculty is comprised of current researchers with international accreditation and achievements.
The mass spectrometer is a research instrument that ranks among the world’s greatest inventions. Mass spectrometry that helps weigh an individual molecule’s weight has become a fixture in doping research, medicine, ecology, and even museums.
Skoltech is pleased to announce a new course of lectures on mass spectrometry, delivered by its top scientists:
Timetable:
January 28: What is a mass spectrometer? How and why do scientists “weigh” molecules?
February 4: How to detect doping, drugs and poisons in human blood?
February 11: Mass spectrometry in healthcare.
February 18: Mass spectrometry in oncology.
February 25: Molecular ecology.
March 4: Mummies, dinosaurs, and beer. Mass spectrometry in archeology, paleontology, and museums.
Speakers: Corresponding Member of RAS, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Professor Evgeny Nikolaev, PhD in Physics and Mathematics, Assistant Professor Yury Kostyukevich, PhD in Physics and Mathematics, Senior Research Scientist Alexey Kononikhin, PhD in Chemistry and Senior Research Scientist Alexander Zherebker.
The Skoltech Space Center (SSC), the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Cluster at the Skolkovo Foundation and the Skolkovo space community invite their friends and partners to sum up this year’s achievements and discuss future plans at the traditional end-of-year meeting.
2020 has been a challenging year for all, the space industry included. This year’s challenges will be the main focus of the forthcoming online meeting on https://spatial.chat/ platform which supports many simultaneous sessions, enabling guests to join the discussions, exchange greetings or confer on the sidelines on the meeting.
All those interested in engineering technology, start-up opportunities and business networking are most welcome to join in the discussion of the year results, news, project ideas, and shared goals.
The general discussion will address three main topics:
2020 RESULTS AND PROSPECTS: achievements, future plans, and success stories from the Skolkovo community, including the Skolkovo Foundation, SSC, and other stakeholders.
EMBRACING THE FUTURE: What are the top competencies for young professionals in space engineering, advanced manufacturing, and startup businesses? How to make the right career choice in frontier technology and engineering?
OPEN DISCUSSION AND NEW YEAR GREETINGS: open mike.
For further details, feel free to contact Antonina Gromyko, a project coordinator at SSC (+79039621761, ).
Join us for an online discussion of the science documentary AlphaGo hosted by Dr. Frolov of Skoltech, within the FANK Contemporary Science Film Festival on December 17 at 7 p.m. Moscow time. The full version of AlPhago is available free of charge athttps://csff.timepad.ru/event/1504705/ until December 20.
Dr. Alexey Frolov is a Senior Research Scientist at the Skoltech Center for Computational and Data-Intensive Science and Engineering(CDISE). He earned his Master’s degree in Computer Science from the Bauman Moscow State Technical University (BMSTU) in 2010 and his PhD degree in Mathematics from the Institute for Information Transmission Problems of RAS (IITP RAS) in 2012. Alexey did research at Ulm University (Germany), the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL, Switzerland), the University of Maryland (USA), and Israel Institute of Technology (Technion, Israel), which resulted in joint publications in leading journals on information and coding theory. Prior to joining Skoltech in 2016, Alexey was a Senior Researcher at IITP RAS and project leader for a Huawei and IITP RAS joint project. At Skoltech, he was appointed Assistant Professor in 2017 and Associate Professor in 2019.
